Package Differences

The Expert Edition supports multiple simultaneous file transfers, recursive sub-folder transfers, view-only mode, password protected customer modules and the customizable ToolBox application.  It supports relay mode but does not support repeater mode or encryption.  The splash, customer module program icon, disclaimer, company name, goodbye message, menus, messages and questionnaire link are user customizable.

The Professional Edition enables all available features including encryption, repeater mode, view-only mode, password protected customer modules and the customizable ToolBox application.  The splash, customer module program icon, disclaimer, company name, goodbye message, menus, messages and questionnaire link are user customizable.

The Corporate Edition is the same as the Professional Edition but the entire customer module is custom programmed to your specifications (icons, splash, text, copyright, company name). The executable does not show DualDesk as the program name.  The splash, customer module program icon, disclaimer, company name, goodbye message and questionnaire link are user customizable.

A "Site" is defined as the single geographical location of the place of business where the software is registered for use.  If an individual is a permanent or temporary employees that works from an alternate location but is assigned to the registered site, the individual is authorized by the site license to use the software during their employment. Unlimited means unlimited, our unlimited license is not limited to a maximum number of employees.
     

  • Global / Multi-Site License (buy this instead of additional seats)
    This option allows unlimited technician seats anywhere in your organization to use the software from any site. Option Overviews
  Expert, Professional, Corporate and Enterprise Options 
  Delayed Connect Prompt (optional)
  Delayed Connect Prompt  --- Delays the session until the tech signals the customer module to connect. Each customer can have a unique delayed connect code or you can you can start multiple customer connections at the same time by assigning them the same code.  This option is useful to allow the customer to run the file before leaving the office and allow the tech to start the session at a later time/date when ready or available or to help control inbound connections. PHP/ASP/Perl/CGI powered websites can be programmed to control and track the sessions and balance technician workload when combined with the web-based customer module configuration option. The session can also be started immediately by instructing the customer to leave the code blank and clicking skip.

Since the customer must initiate the session, there are never any un-invited connections which helps preserve system security. Not applicable to Presenter.
 

  Customizable Tools, Splash, Messages, Company Name and Feedback/Questionnaire
  Customizable Tools  --- Allows you to specify the name and command syntax of optional tools, including shell (DOS) commands, programs and URL/FTP/Email addresses in addition to the catch-all embedded tools folder (drag-and-drop tools to include in your customer modules), user defined tools website URL and other built-in system tools.

Customizable Splash (Logo) Screen  --- Allows you to specify the splash screen shown when the customer runs the customer module.

Customizable Disclaimer Message  --- Allows you to specify the optional disclaimer message shown when the customer runs the customer module.

Customizable Goodbye Message  --- Allows you to specify the optional goodbye message shown when the session ends.

Customizable Company Name  --- Allows you to specify the name displayed on the popup timer and on most of the window titles and other company references in menu text and prompts your customers will see when they run the customer module (installer). Not all references can be changed.

Customizable Feedback Prompt and URL  --- Allows you to specify the text displayed on the optional feedback prompt and the URL to your feedback form, questionnaire page or an email address.

Not applicable to Presenter.
 

  File and Subfolder File Transfers
  Subfolder Transfers  --- Transfers folders and subfolders.  This option increases the download size. Note: even without this option, multiple and single file transfers are still possible. Not applicable to Presenter.
 
  Point-to-Point (P2P) Text Chat
  P2P Text Chat  --- Allows the customer and technician to text chat.
 
  Proxy Relay Mode (optional)
 

Redirector Mode --- Allows all technicians to share the same public address and public port so that only one port has to be opened in your firewall/router. This does not increase the file download size and does not present a prompt.

If the Repeater Checkbox is disabled and the Proxy address is blank, Proxy mode will be disabled and the customer module will try to connect in Direct mode.

If the Repeater Checkbox is disabled and the Proxy address is completed, Proxy mode will be enabled and customer module will try to connect in Proxy mode with no session prompt.

If the Repeater Checkbox is disabled and and the last number of Proxy address is ? the customer will be prompted for the last few numbers of address to the target workstation allowing you to support an unlimited number technician seats from a single customer support module.
 

  Password Protect Customer Module(s) (optional)
 

Password Protection --- Password protects the downloadable customer module. This only requires input from customer to initially open the customer module. After DualDesk installs, it does not require input to connect to the technician, auto-reconnect or auto-callback. This is recommended if your customer modules are not in a password protected area of your website. If you enable the Daily PIN option, the password will change daily by automatically appending the numeric day of the month (1-31) to the end of the password you select. If you enable Daily.
 

  Password Daily PIN (optional)
 

Password Protection with Daily PIN --- If you enable the Daily PIN option, the password will change daily by automatically appending the numeric day of the month (1-31) to the end of the password you select. If you enable Daily PIN with a blank password the password will be the day of the month. This does not increase the file download size and does not present a prompt after installation, re-boot or logoff/logon.
 

  View-Only/File Sharing Session Prompt (optional)
 

View-Only/File Sharing Session Prompt --- Asks the remote customer if they wish to run the server in view-only mode, remote control mode without file sharing or full-control mode with file sharing when the customer runs the server software. This does not increase the file download size and does not present a prompt after installation, re-boot or logoff/logon.

Not applicable to Presenter.
 

  Professional, Corporate and Enterprise Options
(in addition to the above options)
  Proxy Repeater Mode (optional)
 

Repeater Mode --- The repeater allows both technician and customer to connect through firewalls they don't control. The repeater is useful if the technician is behind a firewall or NAT router at an alternate location such as a hotel and cannot open ports for inbound connections. If no number is entered, the module will connect in standard viewer mode. This does not increase the file download size and does not present a prompt after installation, re-boot or logoff/logon.

If the Repeater Checkbox is enabled (contains a checkmark) Proxy mode and Direct mode will both be disabled and Repeater (ID:) mode will be enabled instead. In Repeater mode the session and will not connect through to a workstation. The Technician will have to connect to the proxy in Repeater Mode using the same ID code as the customer.

If the Repeater Checkbox is enabled (contains a checkmark) Direct mode and Proxy mode will both be disabled and Repeater (ID:) mode will be enabled.

If the Repeater Checkbox is enabled and the Repeater ID field is blank, the customer will be prompted for the repeater ID: code.

If the Repeater Checkbox is enabled and the Repeater ID field is completed, customer module will try to connect in Repeater mode with no session prompt.
 

  End-to-End Data Stream Encryption (optional)
  MS RC4 Encryption Plug-In --- Encrypts the data stream using Microsoft RC4 Encryption.
Note: Not all machines will support 56 bit or 128 bit encryption and many Windows 95/98 machines may not connect if they do not have all the operating system updates from Microsoft.  Encryption increases the download file size.
  Disable Encryption --- Do not use encryption.
  Use 40 Bit Key --- Supported by most U.S. & International systems.
  Use 56 Bit Key --- Supported by most U.S. systems.
  Use 128 bit Key --- Must have the Windows high-encryption update installed.

DualDesk Corporate is designed for Corporations, Service Providers and VARS and is custom programmed with your company name, text, icons and logos to help protect your trade secrets from competitors.

The level of customizing is up to you. For the basic customized package ($1995 ) we will customize it with your own logos, icons, company name, contact info and your copyright embedded into the executable. The executable will still be named DualDesk.exe and the DualDesk name will still be displayed in the task manager task list and the Windows registry will have a DualDesk entry.  This is the level most small to mid-sized corporations, consultants and service providers request.

We will need the following for your custom logo, icons and information:

  • 2 to 256 colors .bmp file for the customer module (server) splash screen.  This can be any size but it adds to the customer download so smaller and less colors is better. We recommend no larger than 200x75x16 colors.
  • 300x200 pixels x 256 color .bmp file for the viewer splash screen.
  • 32x32 pixels x 256 color .ico file for the viewer and server icons.
  • 164x314 pixels x 256 color .bmp file for the technicians setup/install program.
  • 50x50 x 256 colors .bmp file for the technician setup/install program.
  • Your contact information and home page for the viewer, server and technician's setup/installation about screens.

DualDesk Enterprise Edition provides even further customizing and replaces the DualDesk executable name and service name with the name you specify so that DualDesk is not displayed in the task manager task list, registry or executable etc... this costs additional (based on our standard hourly programming rate) but ensures you have a unique package that your competitors cannot easily trace back to Advantig as your supplier.  This is the level of customizing most large corporations, VARs and OEMs prefer.
